The Salt Lake City based independent artists- LoveSeat Daredevil officially began in early 1997. It was the natural progression of
a previous band (Sofa), which had experienced several personnel changes leaving bassist Mike Ward and saxophone, percussionist Chris Watson as the only original members continuing on.
So what is LoveSeat Daredevil and its music?— An infectious blend
of original hard rock influenced by funk, latin, metal and more hard rock. The music combines weaving melodies and heavy duty rhythms to form a sonic kick in the head. Critically linked to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, I Mother Earth, Dave Matthews Band, Fishbone and more, the music contains a genre colliding blend of killer original songs—
A unique mix of sound that is 100% intentional.
The band is: Chris Kimmel- lead vocals, Gabe Ulibarri- guitars, Mike Ward- bass, backup vocals, Chris Watson- saxophone, percussion, backup vocals, Bruce Kirby- drums.
At the groups peak, LSD was playing approximately 60 to 70 shows a year in Utah and toured occasionally throughout the southwest. They were finalist on several occasions in the SXSW and NXNW music competitions in Utah; and even performed at the Salt Lake City leg of the 1999 Vans Warped Tour.
LoveSeat Daredevil released their self-produced CD "Beauty Secrets" in the spring of 1999, featuring 13 original songs. The recordings were done at drummer Bruce Kirby's Salt Lake City recording studio. In 2000 a 2nd CD "6 Track Mayhem" featuring studio demos of new material as well as some live show recordings, was released. Later that year the group disbanded and went onto other musical adventures.
